We are actively seeking participants for the HydroCurc® Trial. Long-lasting low-grade inflammation is associated with the development of a number of diseases including heart disease diabetes and dementia. While a healthy lifestyle has been shown to positively influence inflammatory processes, for many people, the busyness of life makes it difficult to consistently make good choices. In this instance, taking a supplement may help. Curcumin is a widely used supplement, responsible for the yellow colour of turmeric. Previous studies have demonstrated its capacity to reduce markers of inflammation and associated physical symptoms (e.g. pain and stiffness). However, the absorption of naturally occurring curcumin by the body is poor. Fortunately recent technological advances have increased its bio-available. IN fact the new formulation we are testing has been observed to have 3 times the absorption efficiency of basic curcumin. This means you may get the same anti-inflammatory effect by taking much less. Or by taking the same quantity, you may get a greater anti-inflammatory effect. However, this has not yet been demonstrated. |
